Connection problems

Hello everyone.

I have installed SQL Server 2005 on a computer. The problem is that when I try to connect to it through Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, I have to retry to connect several times before it gets connected finally.

I get the following error when it fails to connect:

An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (Provider: SQL Network Interfaces. error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server).

Event viewer error - Application

The SQLBrowser is enabling SQL instance and connectivity discovery support.

Event viewer error - System

The SQL Server Browser service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2848 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

Also, when I try to start the SQL Server Browser, I get the following error:

The request failed or the service did not start in a timely fashion. Consult the event liog or other applicable logs for details.

Does anyone out there have a clue to this?

Thanks in advance.

Hemant

Try installing the most recent service pack on the machine. Sounds like you have a corrupt file which the SQL Browser requires to function.
